The Returning Officer for Njaba/ Isu/ Nwangele / Nkwerre federal constituency Seat of Imo state, Prof Roseline Ijeoma Ogechukwu, has said that she lacked authority to declare Hon Ozuruigbo Ugonna, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and the incumbent as winner of the Poll.
This is even as Returning Officer had already declared Hon Ozuruigbo as winner in three out of the four Councils that make up the Federal constituency seat .He had garnered a total of 16846 in Isu, Nkwerre and Nwangele respectively while candidate of Labour Party scored 6609 and the APC candidate garnered 6784.
According to the Returning Officer, Prof. Roseline Ijeoma Ogechukwu, declaring Hon. Ozurigbo winner was beyond her as she was sent to deliver result on the 4 LGAs that make up the federal constituency, rather than just the available 3 LGAs.
She stated that the issue of declaration is beyond her and will be decided by the INEC State Officers in Owerri.
Recall that, the result sheet at Njaba was allegedly taken away by the Sole Administrator of Njaba LGA, Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi.
