Reps: Customs CG pledges collaboration with PAC

The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has said the Nigeria Customs Service ( NCS) will collaborate with the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts ( PAC) in its quest for transparency in government finances.

Adeniyi, who stated this, when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee, promised that the Service will promote transparency in its financial statements for efficient auditing of accounts.

He explained that NCS has been using integrated technology to collect revenue for over 20 years, stating more than 20 commercial banks are involved in the process. According to him, the revenue collected are remitted by the banks to the federation accounts.

Furthermore, the Customs boss said
“Compliance is something we take seriously, and we will ensure that if there are any grey areas that need our service to foster efficiency, I am happy to mention that my team and I are prepared and will in the most transparent manner, present statements to the committee.”
