The Nigerian Army has buried the remains of the immediate past Chief of Administration (Army), Maj.-Gen. Idris Alkali.
The late Gen. Alkali’s body was recovered from an abandoned well at Guchwet village in Shen District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state.
Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Kayode Ogunsanya, in a press statement, on Sunday, said the remains of the senior officer was laid to rest after a funeral prayers at the National Mosques, Abuja on Saturday.
He said, “The remains of the immediate past Chief of Administration (Army), Major General Idris Alkali that was recovered from an abandoned well at Gushwet Village in Shen District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State had been laid to rest.

“The senior officer remains was laid to rest after funeral prayers at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Sunday. May Allah grant him eternal rest.
“The senior officer’s burial was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai and Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Service Headquarters as well as retired senior officers.”
Col. Ogunsanya said the Army was working assiduously to arrest two suspects who were declared wanted in connection to the killing of Gen. Alkali.
“This Headquarters still solicit the assistance of the general public for information or the whereabouts of two wanted persons who are yet to report to the Nigerian Police Plateau State Command.
“The two wanted persons are Mr. Chuwang Samuel aka Morinho and Mr Nyam Samuel aka Soft Touch.
“This Headquarters can be contacted on GSM number 09074028881 as sources of information would be treated as confidential.
“The general public be rest assured that all those who participated in the killing of the senior officer no matter highly placed shall be brought to justice.”

The Headquarters of 3 Division appreciated all security agencies that supported them during the search and rescue operation.
He said security agencies such as Operation SAFE HEAVEN, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police, Department of State Service (DSS) and National Security Civil Defence Corps, Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency and Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) as well as media houses worked tirelessly during the operation.
Col. Ogunsanya said the Division respected the principle and respect of human rights in the discharge of its constitutional roles and called on everyone within its Area of Responsibility to remain vigilant and report any suspected breach of peace to security agencies.
