World Igbo Congress (WIC) has urged South East governors to expedite action for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
WIC, in a statement, signed by its Chairman, Festus Okere, and Secretary, Chris Ogara, respectively, said it acknowledged a recent significant meeting of the South East governors with distinguished personalities, including Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, who the group said had always stood up in times of need.
It noted that among the governors’ unanimous decisions made public after the meeting was their resolve to meet President Bola Tinubu to ask for the release of Nnamdi Kanu that the group described as justifiably overdue.
“WIC is itching to hear the outcome of their agreed meeting. Time is the soul of the world. A prolonged inaction destroys people’s hope. Let actions speak louder than voice.
“WIC stands firmly with our governors in this overly concerned matter. We also recognise and salute all persons who have continued in numerous documented occasions, to support the call for the release of Kanu.
“WIC, again, urges President Tinubu to politically release Kanu. History remains a true account of the past,” WIC said.
