Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State chapter, Most Rev Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has called on President Bola Tinubu to do all he can to stabilise the economy by ensuring full regulation of food prices.
In a message to mark Nigeria’s 65th independence day, Yohanna, Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, charged Nigerians to commit the country and its leaders into the hands of God and seek God’s intervention for an end to the prevailing insecurity and economic realities.
“As a body, CAN believes that the challenges, even though enormous, are surmountable, and by the grace of God, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

“I want to join my voice with millions of Nigerians to call on our President, Bola Tinubu to make frantic efforts to stabilise the economy and ensure the security of lives and properties especially in areas affected by banditry.
“Mr. President, as you plan to boost the economy of the country, we look forward to the increase in trade, falling food prices, decline in inflation, a strengthened currency and growth of external reserves.”
Bishop Yohanna appealed to the people of Niger to deepen their prayers for the peace, unity and prosperity of the state.
He urged Christians not to focus on the negatives alone, but also to reflect on God’s mercies, favour and be thankful to Him for keeping the nation as one entity despite the challenges.
