Reconstruction of razed Delta court complex to gulp N100 million

The reconstruction of the burnt Delta State High Court complex along Ibusa Road in Asaba would cost N100 million, Commissioner of Housing Festus Ochonogor has revealed.

Ochonogor made this know during an inspection of the burnt courthouse alongside the State Chief Judge, Justice Marshall Umukoro; Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Peter Mrakpor and Commissioner for Information Charles Aniagwu.

The court was razed by miscreants who hijacked the #EndSARS protests last month. The State multi-million recreational park at Koka junction along the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha was also set on fire.

Ochonogor said the completely ruined buildings would be completely rebuilt to bring forth an entirely new structure, pointing out that experts from the Ministry had been working on the new design to produce a new structure between now and the end of the year.

On his part, Chief Judge Umukoro described the burning of the court as a major setback to the judiciary, adding that all the court documents were burnt.
