Nigerian comedian and actress Anita Alaire Asuoha, popularly known as Realwarripikin, won Best Stand-Up Comedian at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), held in Dallas, Texas.
Realwarripikin emerged winner ahead of fellow nominees, including Basketmouth, Bovi, Godfrey, Eric Omondi, Trevor Noah, Patrick “Salvado” Idringi and Ty Ngachira.
Reacting to the honour, the comedian described the award as a recognition of her years of hard work, persistence and commitment to her craft.
She said she was hopeful but did not expect to win, despite the confidence of her family, friends and team.
“I know I have worked hard and I know I deserve to be recognised for that work, but I also know there were other amazing comedians that I admire and respect nominated,” she said.
Realwarripikin said the moment her name was announced was emotional and has inspired her to dream bigger and pursue new opportunities.
Known for her Warri-inspired humour, energetic performances and distinctive delivery, she rose to prominence through comedy skits and social media before expanding into stand-up comedy, acting and other entertainment projects.
She is also set to take her comedy to London with a show scheduled for November 28 at Indigo at The O2.
“As they say, the reward for hard work is more work. For me, it reminds me to dream even bigger. There’s a lot ahead for Realwarripikin,” she said.
Other Nigerian winners at the ceremony included Davido, who won Album of the Year for 5ive; Tems, Best Female West Africa; Ruger, Best Male West Africa; Phyno, Best Male Rap Act; Fola, Best Newcomer; Mercy Chinwo, Best Gospel; and DJ Tunez, Best DJ Africa.
Founded in Dallas in 2014, AFRIMMA celebrates African music and entertainment talents across the continent and diaspora.
