As Muslims observe the holy month of Ramadan and Christians mark the Lenten season, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, has distributed food items to vulnerable residents across the nine local government areas of the district.

The outreach, which targeted the less privileged, was also coordinated through the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Muslim Council to ensure that the items reach the intended beneficiaries.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution, Senator Yaroe described the Ramadan and Lenten periods as spiritually significant for both Muslims and Christians, urging believers to use the season to pray for peace and unity in the country.

The senator, who was represented by his Campaign Director-General, Katawan Boniface, said the gesture was aimed at supporting constituents during the period of fasting and reflection.

According to him, a total of 1,170 bags of rice, 900 bags of sugar, 450 cartons of spaghetti, and 144 gallons of vegetable oil were distributed across the nine local government areas.

He explained that each of the LGAs received 130 bags of rice, 100 bags of sugar, 16 gallons of vegetable oil and 50 cartons of spaghetti, adding that the items were specifically meant for the less privileged in the society.

Boniface noted that the distribution was in recognition of the importance of the Ramadan and Lenten seasons, reiterating the senator’s commitment to continually supporting his constituents.

“We consider this period very important for both Muslims and Christians. The senator remains committed to putting smiles on the faces of his constituents at all times,” he said.

Responding on behalf of beneficiaries, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Muslim Council in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Abubakar Suleiman, commended the senator for the gesture and promised that the items would be distributed fairly to the intended beneficiaries.

He described Senator Yaroe as a sincere and committed leader who always has the welfare of his constituents at heart.

Also speaking, the Secretary of CAN in Mayo-Belwa LGA, Chris Simon, described the support as timely, especially as Christians observe the Lenten period.

Simon assured that the Christian body would ensure the food items reach the most vulnerable members of society while also praying for God’s continued blessings upon the senator.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs), Abubakar Mohammed Bolto, expressed gratitude to Senator Yaroe for including persons with disabilities among the beneficiaries.

Bolto appealed for continued support to the group during future festivities and assured that the items would be shared among members regardless of religious affiliation.

The distribution is part of Senator Yaroe’s regular humanitarian outreach, particularly during festive seasons, reflecting his commitment to improving the welfare of residents across the nine local government areas of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
