Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir-Idris has distributed foodstuff,cash to 500 women to ease their preparation for Ramadan fasting and charged them to pray for Nigeria to overcome its challenges.
The Governor’s wife stated this during Kebbi Women Pre-Ramadan Lectures and Empowerment of 500 Women held at Waziri Umaru Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.
According to her, ” I urge you to pray for the present administration of my husband, Gov. Nasir Idris to succeed. The administration has brought positive development to the state.
“I also want to use this medium to appeal for forgiveness on behalf of my husband, incase this government mistakenly stepped on the toe of anybody,” she pleaded.
In her lecture on Fasting, daughter to late prominent Islamic Cleric, Sheik Ja’afar Mahmud-Adam, Malama Zainab Ja’afar Mahmud-Adam, described the month of Ramadan as a month of blessing.
She said: “God Almighty has ordained human being to fast the month of Ramadan just as He ordained those before us so that we may be among the pius.
“Fast the month of Ramadan for the sake of Allah (SWT) and remember, it’s not only avoiding eating, drinking, smoking and sexual intercourse that is fasting but also you must guard your joints against any form of evil.

“Avoid reckless talks that will destroy your fasting, stop backbiting one another.
“He who fast the month of Ramadan and stand in prayer in the night, God Almighty will forgive all his/her sins.”
She explained that Ramadan is a month of giving, month of blessing, month of sacrifice, month of mending relationships, month of visiting, month of charity, month of addu’a (supplication) and above all, month of reciting the Holy Qur’an.
In their separate presentations on “Hasada” and Attaqawa” meaning “Envy” and “Fear of God Almighty”, Malama Juwaitiyya Bintu-Uthman and Malama Hauwa’u Nasare said envy was the first sin on earth.
They said after Almighty Allah created Prophet Adam (Abel), He instructed the Angels to prostrate to Adam, all the Angels prostrated except Shaitan (devil).
The clerics added that God Almighty asked the devil why he refused to prostrate, he said how can he prostrate to someone created from clay while he (devil) was created from fire.
They described taqawa as the complete submission to the instructions of Almighty Allah, doing what He instructed “us to do and avoiding what has forbidden us”.
The scholars said it was forbidden to ascribe partner to Almighty Allah, while reminding women that visiting soothsayers would amount to praying 40 days in vain.
