Ramadan: Kano suspends operations of event centers across the state

The Kano State government has suspended the operations of event centres across the state the affected organisations included gala houses and Disc Jockeys popularly known as DJ operators.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Censorship Board, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, declared that, “Effective from Wednesday, 18 February 2026, all such venues (entertainment centres) will remain closed until the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.

“The directive will take effect from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday,” the statement said.

The Board explained that the decision was issued in order to allow residents carry out their religious activities in the Holy month in a peaceful atmosphere.

“The closure will remain in force throughout the fasting period, while the date for reopening, particularly during the Eid celebrations, will be announced at the appropriate time,” the statement disclosed.

The Board urged residents to cooperate with the directive in accordance with the law establishing the agency.

The Board explained that order was part of its mandate of regulating and guiding the conduct of entertainment activities in the state.

The Board subsequently prayed for a peaceful and healthy observance of the Holy month.
