A violent rainstorm tore through Dokan Mai-Jama’a, a community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two residents and destroying more than 50 homes.
The storm, which struck at about 6:41 p.m. on Monday, lasted less than an hour but unleashed fierce winds that ripped off rooftops, flattened buildings and displaced dozens of families.
Confirming the incident, Village Head Alhaji Hamisu Tukur said the scale of damage was severe, with entire households wiped out and many residents left without shelter.
A visit to the area revealed scenes of distress, as affected families scrambled for safety and temporary refuge.

Some residents lost their homes completely, while others were left with badly damaged structures, leaving them exposed to the elements.
Survivors are now calling on the Kaduna State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency to urgently provide relief support.
The impact of the storm extended beyond Dokan Mai-Jama’a to nearby Sabon Gyero in Millennium City, where several houses were damaged and more than 10 perimeter fences destroyed.
The downpour also disrupted traffic after a major road in the area was blocked, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.
Meanwhile, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency have arrived in the community to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the damage, raising hopes of imminent relief for affected residents.
