Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr Solomon Arase, has said that the commission is working towards transforming the image of the Nigeria police to attract the youth: “There has been significant progress in the relationship between personnel of the commission and operatives of the police force.

“We have united civil society of the organisation in support of the commission and the police. The commission has continued to engage international donor agencies and other stakeholders to assist build the capacity at the commission.

“There is now respect for the clearly defined responsibilities of the two institutions. They now operate with mutual respect and shared vision. I am getting listening ears and making a lot of progress. We will surely be a pride of the nation.

“The commission has achieved appreciable progress in projecting the force in good light. I have assured personnel of the police that the commission is committed to ensuring the implementation of promotions as when due.

“No police officers will be allowed to stagnate in a rank especially when there are no disciplinary issues around the officers. The commission has deliberately moved to clear all pending disciplinary matters so that officers can have unhindered career progression.”

Arase commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the massive promotions of junior officers who have in recent times suffered stagnation in their career progression: “We promise to continue to work for the unity and progress at both the commission and the police force.” He encouraged the newly promoted senior officers to serve their fatherland diligently.
