The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has ordered an immediate investigation after thugs were caught on camera harassing some News Central TV journalists covering the #EndBadGovernance protests in the Ojota area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development in an X post on Tuesday.

Earlier, News Central TV shared a video on its official X handle showing thugs ordering the station’s correspondent, Bernard Akede and his camera crew to leave a spot where they were recording.

In the video, some of the thugs can be seen shoving the crew members as the journalists made for their operational vehicle.

Akede said his team was supposed to record at the Freedom Park, Ojota, which is often frequented by protesters, but was shooed away by policemen at the scene.

He said the team later settled for a spot “several kilometres” away from the popular park only to be sent packing by thugs.

In his post, Hundeyin said Managing Director of News Central TV, Kayode Akintemi led the crew involved to lodge an official complaint about the harassment at the Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

“The Commissioner of Police @LagosPoliceNG, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has ordered an immediate investigation into this incident.

“He mandated the investigating team to fish out the miscreants and ensure their prosecution accordingly.

“He gave this directive today when the crew involved, led by News Central MD, @KayodeAkintemi, submitted an official complaint letter at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja,” the police spokesman said.
