Protesters gathered in Abuja, Lagos, on August 1, prompting a substantial security presence in major cities around Nigeria.
Channels Television’s ‘The August Protests’ broadcast displayed recordings of protestors who congregated across states and were unified in their comments that hunger and suffering in Nigeria motivated the mass action.
Protesters in Abuja held signs stating ‘Endbadgovernance’, ‘Enough is Enough’, ‘Endhunger’, and ‘Nigerians are ready for New Naija.’

In Lagos, a group of protesters marched through Obafemi Awolowo Road in Ikeja, carrying placards with the bold message “Enough is Enough” for hunger and hardship.
The demonstrators, part of the “End Bad Government” movement, vowed to continue their march to Ojota, determined to make their voices heard.
The protesters are requesting a reduction in food inflation, which was 40.87 percent in June 2024, a reversal of power rate increases, and ten other demands.
