Commercial and social activities were halted in some parts of Akure, Ondo State yesterday as some farmers and youths protested the killing of three farmers living in Akure North Local Government of the state by suspected herdsmen.
The protesters were drawn from Tafa area of Ajagbusi along Igbatoro road, where the deceased farmers were working before their alleged murder.
The protesting farmers alleged that herdsmen in the area were terrorizing their families, even as their crops were being destroyed by their cows.

They barricaded the road leading to the Govenor’s office at Alagbaka ,Akure, the state capital, thereby preventing free flow of traffic in the area.
Armed with leaves, the protesters brought the bodies of the victims to the scene of the protest and urged the state government to fish out their killers.
The protesters said the attack has thrown the community into mourning, stressing the need for government to brace up the security in the area.
They warned herdsmen against further attack on their colleagues and family members, even as they called on security agencies to intensify efforts at securing their lives and property.
