From Priscilla Ediare, Ado-Ekiti
The Planter Of Christ Apostolic Church (Boanerges) Worldwide, Prophet Ade Ologbonyo has condoled with the families of the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olushola and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin who were attacked and gruesomely killed by unknown gunmen between Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti, Ajoni Local Council Development Area, Ikole-Ekiti in Ekiti state while returning from a meeting.
Prophet Ologbonyo noted that the gruesome act was a signal of zero concern by the perpetrators towards the tranquility of the state.
“It saddened my heart when I heard about the death of our traditional rulers.
“It is indeed with a heart full of sadness that I am writing this to commiserate with the families of the deceased.
” This is a sign of failure of governance at both state and federal levels and it is a wake-up call to all of us.”
Similarly, the Cleric condemned the recent kidnapping of six pupils, three teachers and a bus driver of a private school, in Emure- Ekiti, Emure Local Government Area of the state describing it as serious threat to the safety of citizens.
Prophet Ologbonyo, in a statement provided to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti state urged the state and federal governments to take drastic action in fishing out the killers of the monarchs and bring them to justice. He called on security agents in the state to intensify efforts in making sure that the innocent kids are released from the kidnappers’ den.
“I alerted the governments of Ekiti and Ondo States some years back, as revealed by the Holy Spirit, that the forests in these two states have been invaded and there was the need to flush out these criminal elements. This is the time for action. I dont believe in talking after the deed has been done, we need to be proactive. We need more police presence in Ekiti and the call for the establishment of State Police should be sustained.
“In the interim, let us have more paramilitary personnel to secure our various communities in Ekiti.
” Let’s encourage each community to scale up local intelligence gathering by forming mini security Committee at every quarters. This committee should ensure that they monitor what is going on around them and report any strange face or movement around them.
“Again, this is the time to collaborate with the Governor and our traditional rulers. Curbing insecurity requires a collective effort. Insecurity is not a challenge that affects only a section of the society, but everywhere. It wont be out of place for each community to contribute money and buy CCTV camera. The era of waiting for government is over. Let’s take our destinies in our hands.
“Government too must expedite action in procuring drone for surveillance. Ekiti is not too big, only one drone can survey the whole of Ekiti in less that one hour. We have different kinds of drones, we have drones that can record voices and those that can attack.
“Community security meetings should be more regular now and every suspicious movements must be reported to the appropriate authorities
“Security outfits should form a strong network to protect the people from untimely death and recurrent kidnapping and killings along the Ipao-Oke Ako-Irele road.”
He lamented that Ekiti hitherto a peaceful state has become a haven for kidnappers, bandits, and herdsmen to operate freely, noting that insecurity will affect economic growth and scare investors away from the state.
“How do you expect business to boom or investors to come to a state where life is not secured? This government must do something urgently,” he said.
