The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Linkage Assurance Plc, Dr. Emmanuel Otitolaiye, has committed to driving professionalism, excellence and capacity development for members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) – Nigerian Insurers Association (ICAN-NIA) Chapter.
As the Pioneer Chairman of the Chapter, Otitolaiye expressed his commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and promoting excellence in the accounting field, while advancing the interests of its members.
“It is with great delight, a deep sense of responsibility, and immense gratitude to the Almighty God that I stand before this distinguished audience today to accept my election and formal investiture as the Pioneer Chairman of the ICAN-NIA Chapter,” he stated during his investiture ceremony in Lagos.
Otitolaiye emphasized the importance of embracing innovation and staying ahead of emerging trends and technologies in the ever-evolving landscape of business and finance. He said, “As we navigate the challenges before us, we must adapt, evolve, and continuously expand our knowledge and skills to meet the demands of an increasingly dynamic world.”
Dr. Otitolaiye also affirmed his commitment to fostering a culture of lifelong learning and professional development within the Chapter. He pledged to provide members with the resources and support needed to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
His administration, he noted, would focus on increasing membership, organizing training, and hosting events through collaboration and strategic partnerships. “Our Chapter will actively seek opportunities to collaborate with organizations, regulatory bodies, and academia to strengthen the profession, advocate for the interests of our members, and shape the future of the accounting profession in Nigeria,” he added.
The ICAN-NIA Chapter was officially inaugurated by the 60th President of ICAN, Davidson Alaribe, in the presence of top accounting and insurance professionals at Nigeria’s Insurers House in Victoria Island, Lagos.
In his speech, Alaribe, who is also the Diamond President of ICAN, highlighted the significance of the Chapter’s inauguration, noting that it would provide accountants with a platform to synergize and contribute to the development of the profession and the nation’s economy.
He commended Otitolaiye for his diligence and commitment to both the insurance and accounting professions, encouraging younger accountants to draw inspiration from the new Chapter chairman’s example. “Take a bold step and redefine your future by building yourself for a better tomorrow,” he urged the younger generation, emphasizing the importance of taking charge of one’s destiny.
