Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Projects Development Institute (PRODA), Enugu, Peter Ogbobe, has pledged the institute’s support for the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Enugu branch, in its bid to host the 2027 NSE Conference in Enugu.
Ogbobe gave the assurance when the Enugu chairman of the NSE, Loveday Osondu, led the executive committee to visit the PRODA management. He reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between PRODA and the NSE, particularly its Enugu branch, and promised to support the conference.
“Be assured that we are going to support you to the best of our ability,” he told the delegation.
Congratulating Osondu on his emergence as chairman, Ogbobe commended the branch for choosing PRODA as its first organisation to visit after the election. He also urged the new chairman to work with both his supporters and opponents.
He said PRODA’s relationship with the NSE was strengthened by its large engineering workforce, noting that the institute is an engineering establishment with many staff members belonging to the professional body.
Earlier, Osondu said the visit was aimed at strengthening ties and exploring collaboration in engineering research, professional development, technical training, industrial innovation and the commercialisation of locally developed technologies.

He commended PRODA’s contributions to research, product development, technological innovation, and indigenous technology, saying both organisations shared a vision to advance national development.
“As engineers, we understand that the development of any nation depends significantly on its ability to transform research and innovation into practical solutions that improve lives, create employment, strengthen industries, and promote economic growth,” Osondu said.
He added that closer collaboration would increase engineers’ participation in research and development and help turn innovative ideas into solutions for Nigeria’s need
He disclosed that the branch would attend the forthcoming conference in Maiduguri, where it would formally pursue the hosting rights for the 2027 edition in Enugu.
He said hosting the conference would benefit Enugu and the South East by attracting engineers, industry leaders, researchers, investors, and other stakeholders. “It would also showcase the state’s infrastructure, investment potential and technological capabilities,” he added.
He appealed to PRODA for institutional and logistical support to secure the hosting rights and organise the event. He said his administration is committed to restoring the branch’s relevance, promoting professional excellence, strengthening institutional relationships, and creating opportunities for members to contribute to society.
He expressed confidence that a stronger PRODA-NSE partnership would advance engineering innovation, promote indigenous technology, and support economic growth in Enugu State and Nigeria.
