Nigerian-born, UK-based fashion designer Prince Keshi has spoken about the use of Igbo traditional fabric in contemporary clothing during an interview on The Good Clothes Podcast, hosted by Joey Bevan.

Keshi discussed The New Era, a mini-collection by his fashion brand, Klass Kay, which incorporates Isi-Agu fabric into clothing and accessories.

The interview followed the brand’s appearance at The Good Clothes Show Manchester in 2025.

Isi-Agu is a fabric associated with Igbo culture and commonly features lion-head patterns. The material has traditionally been used in clothing associated with Igbo identity.

Keshi also discussed the design process behind the collection, including the use of recycled materials, patchwork and reconstructed fabrics.

He co-founded Klass Kay with Helen Keshi. While he oversees the brand’s menswear designs, Helen is responsible for its womenswear.

The collection includes clothing as well as accessories such as a backpack and a duffle bag.

The podcast discussion focused on the use of traditional African textiles in contemporary fashion and the role of cultural identity in clothing design.
