Nigerians need to develop the right disposition to prophecies given by Christian clerics if the country is to take full advantage of the divine guidance issued by God through his prophets.
Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, gave this admonition while reacting to what he described as a misconception over his prediction concerning the recent governorship election in Osun State.
The renowned seer had twice in 2021 predicted that the APC would lose last month’s governorship election in the state.
But at the launch of the 2022 edition of the Warning to the Nations, a compendium of prophecies for Nigeria and other nations of the world, Primate Ayodele made a faith declaration for the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola of APC at the election. This, he noted, was however, misconstrued as counter-prediction to his earlier prophecy.
Speaking on the issue, Ayodele said: “If you remember, on the 22nd of December 2021, I prophesied that PDP would win the governorship election in Osun State. That was a prophecy. If you also check the 2021 edition of the Warnings to the Nations, which was released July last year, the prophecy was clear about PDP winning. But having received the prophecy, I prayed to God to reverse it in favour of Oyetola and I went ahead to make a faith declaration in Oyetola’s favour because of my love for him.
“I made the faith declaration for his victory out of my love for him, which a few, however, took as a prophecy. If a prophet says it is well with you when it is obvious that all is not well, such declaration is just the prophet’s wish or desire for the person. But if anybody takes the declaration as a prophecy and it doesn’t happen as he has said, such declaration should not be taken as a failed prophecy. That is not right. It was a prophetic declaration I made because of my love for Oyetola and I have no regret about it. Even as I speak, I still wish Oyetola emerges victorious,” he said.
Primate Ayodele also spoke on the victory of Kenya’s president-elect, William Ruto, which he predicted earlier, saying the victory of the former vice president is unshakeable despite the controversy trailing his declaration as the president-elect:
“Ruto’s victory in Kenya has come to stay by His grace. When you look at my prophecy about it, I said the president didn’t want him and foretold the plot by the president to approach Raila Odinga for alliance against him and cause confusion among his supporters. I equally said that there would be controversy and crisis about it. And thirdly, I said there would be a court case after the declaration. All these have come to pass.
“By the same token, I will like to restate my earlier prediction about the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim ticket that it will fail. That is the word from the Lord. God has not anointed the APC candidate to rule Nigeria. As it stands, it is between Peter Obi and Atiku. It is going to be like in Kenya where I warned Odinga and Ruto on what could jeopardize their ambitions until God finally revealed who would emerge victorious. So, let us wait until the appropriate time for God’s anointed between the two.
“I said it that Buhari’s second term would be very difficult for Nigerians. The nation’s security has been compromised. Terrorists and bandits have infiltrated the system. Herdsmen have metamorphosed to terrorists and bandits and the government is not doing anything about it. This will definitely fail APC in this coming year. You will see that Nigerians will vote en masse just like we witnessed in June 12, 1993 election. Tinubu would have been the best candidate, but he does not have the capacity and the stamina to rule Nigeria. If APC forces him on Nigeria, he will not be in charge because Shettima will take over.
