Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has said collation of the presidential election, held last Saturday, would begin today.

Yakubu disclosed this,  yesterday, when he  formally declared open the National Collation Centre at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

Yakubu said this was because returns for the election were still being expected from the states and the Federal Capital Territory.

He  explained that each of the state collation officer for the presidential poll would be accompanied by the Resident Electoral Commissioner.

Present at the opening of the collation centre were agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as well as agents of other political parties which participated in the weekend presidential poll.

The APC was  represented by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Clo. Hammed Ali (retd) while the PDP was represented by Usman Bugaje.
