President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s D’Tigress for making history by qualifying for the quarterfinals in women’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This marks a significant milestone as D’Tigress becomes the first African team to reach this stage in Olympic basketball.

In a statement celebrating their achievement, President Tinubu lauded the team for their remarkable resilience, teamwork, and diligence throughout the competition.

“Your determination and spirit have not only made us proud but have also set a new benchmark for African basketball on the global stage,” President Tinubu said.

The President also recognised the contributions of the coach and management team, praising their dedication and commitment to the team’s success.

“The excellence of your guidance and support has been pivotal in this historic accomplishment,” he noted.

Encouraging the D’Tigress to remain focused and driven, President Tinubu urged them to continue their pursuit of victory with the same tenacity that has brought them this far. “Do not rest on your laurels,” he advised.

“Push forward with the same vigour and determination as you have shown to achieve the final victory.”

Assuring the team and the Nigerian delegation of his unwavering support, President Tinubu expressed confidence that the D’Tigress will proudly represent the nation on the world stage.

“As you continue to fly the flag of Nigeria high, know that you have the full support of the nation behind you,” he affirmed.
