The Presidency has stood up for President Bola Tinubu’s appointment choices. It says they show a fair split between Nigeria’s regions. Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, shared this on his verified X handle @SundayDareSD on Wednesday. He noted Tinubu has picked 71 people from the North and 63 from the South.

Some have claimed the appointments favour one region over others. But Dare said Tinubu focuses on fairness, skill, and unity—not tribe or religion. “People tend to isolate new appointments so far made by the President and examine them with a tribal lens,” he said.

“But it is too early to conclude that appointments are lopsided. Tinubu has barely completed two years in office and there are still plenty more appointments coming.”

Of the 63 southern picks, the South-West has 26, the South-South has 21, and the South-East has 16. Dare pointed to Tinubu’s time as Lagos State Governor as proof of his open-mindedness. Back then, his team included people from all over Nigeria, no matter their roots.

“As President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the same man who is not blinded by the cloak of tribe or religion,” Dare added. He believes a fair look at the facts shows Tinubu’s government is working hard to balance regions and bring the country together.
