•Inaugurates student campaign council

From Fred Ezeh, Abuja

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement has inaugurated the Students Campaign Council for the forthcoming FCT Area Councils’ election.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Sunday Asefon, at the inauguration of the council in Abuja, yesterday, told journalists that the objective is to mobilise students’ grassroots support for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the six Area Councils and ensure they emerge victorious.

He said: “As the progressive stakeholders in the FCT, we have resolved to constitute this formidable platform for the effectiveness of the students’ mobilisation across the FCT from the highest levels down to the wards. This is in recognition of the significance of the student populace in decision making and inputs to the elections of political leaders.

“This strategic initiative became expedient with the unprecedented readiness of the Nigerian students to participate in the coming FCT Area Councils’ election in appreciation of the remarkable educational policies of President Bola Tinubu, especially the creation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), uninterrupted academic calendar and expansion of opportunities through investment in vocational trainings.”

He solicited the cooperation of the entire students community and the stakeholders in the FCT to achieve victory in all the six area council elections for the APC candidates.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the FCT Students Campaign Council, Olugbenga Adeyeye, in his remarks, appreciated the trust in him and promised to work assiduously, alongside other relevant individuals and organisations to ensure the victory of the APC candidates in the forthcoming FCT council elections.

He explained that the FCT Students Campaign Council has taken proper cognisance of the leadership styles, capacity, integrity and mobilisation strength and conviction in the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu administration.

“Nevertheless, we have commenced mobilisation even before this inauguration. We have started meetings with relevant community and opinion leaders. But in addition to that, we would have meaningful and interactive engagements with all the student-communities in the FCT. We are confident that we will deliver on the assignments.”

Adeyeye, therefore, solicited the support and commitment of student leaders in the various institutions in the FCT to the task of delivering the APC candidates, asking that they mobilise their colleagues with facts and figures of what the APC has achieved in the FCT.
