The Presidency has dismissed concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s health during his state visit to Turkey, blaming a minor stumble on a poorly laid carpet.

The incident occurred at a welcome reception in Ankara, where the president tripped twice. An official statement attributed the mishap to the “not well-laid blue carpet” and confirmed Tinubu has fully resumed duties.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, echoed this on his verified X handle @SundayDareSD: “PRESIDENT TINUBU IN GREAT SHAPE AS STATE VISIT PROCEEDS SMOOTHLY. President Tinubu after a stately welcome ceremony in Ankara proceeded to scheduled bilateral meetings with President of Turkey and other senior government officials from both countries.

Dare’s X post spotlighted the visit’s smooth progress, with Tinubu now in bilateral talks with Turkish leaders ahead of a joint press conference.
