One of Africa’s biggest fashion and creative industry events, Nigeria Fashion Week, is scheduled to hold in Abuja from October 2-4, 2026.
Recognised as a major international fashion business platform, the Nigeria Fashion Week 2026 is expected to bring together leading Nigerian and foreign fashion designers, buyers, retailers, investors, manufacturers, policymakers, development partners, diplomats, media professionals, creative entrepreneurs and fashion enthusiasts from across Africa and beyond.
With the theme: ‘Beyond the Runway: Fashion and Culture at the Heart of the Green & Blue Economy (Going Green 5)’, the event will highlight the role of fashion in driving sustainable development, environmental responsibility, innovation, job creation and economic growth.
Speaking on the vision for the event, President of Nigeria Fashion Week, Lexy Mojo-Eyes, said the platform has evolved beyond showcasing fashion collections into a vehicle for economic development and international trade.
According to him, Nigeria Fashion Week is creating opportunities that promote employment, strengthen local manufacturing, preserve cultural heritage and empower women and young entrepreneurs while positioning Nigeria as Africa’s fashion capital.
Mojo-Eyes noted that strategic partnerships with global organisations are helping Nigerian designers expand into international markets. He highlighted the collaboration with New York-based Bizness Group, describing it as a significant step towards creating access for African fashion brands within Walmart’s global retail ecosystem.
The Nigeria Fashion Week’s president explained further that the initiative is designed to move Nigerian designers beyond runway recognition by enabling them to compete internationally through retail distribution, global partnerships and stronger commercial visibility.
The fashion event will feature six major runway showcases, presenting collections from some of the finest designers from Nigeria and other parts of the world. The collections would celebrate African creativity while embracing contemporary design, innovation, craftsmanship and sustainable fashion practices.
An extensive fashion exhibition will also provide a platform for businesses involved in textiles, garments, footwear, accessories, beauty products, manufacturing technologies and fashion services to engage directly with buyers, retailers, distributors, investors and consumers.
The event will also host Nigeria Fashion Awards, honouring individuals and organisations whose contributions have significantly advanced the country’s fashion and creative industries.
Environmental sustainability remains one of the event’s major priorities. To this end, the flagship Going Green Collection would showcase garments produced from recycled, upcycled and eco-friendly materials, encouraging responsible production and environmentally conscious fashion.
Another key attraction is the Trees for Nigeria Campaign, which will bring together designers, government officials, diplomats, celebrities, students and international delegates to plant trees as a lasting environmental legacy while promoting climate action and conservation.
Since its launch in 2002, Nigeria Fashion Week has remained one of Africa’s pioneering fashion platforms, promoting Nigerian creativity, supporting the creative economy and connecting designers with international markets.
Mojo-Eyes, however, expressed confidence that this year’s event will further strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading destination for fashion, innovation, investment and sustainable creative enterprise.
