Manchester United edged Atletico Madrid 2-1 on Saturday after Bryan Mbeumo scored twice, earning his team the Snapdragon Cup title.
The Red Devils came from behind in an impressive performance that saw them dominate part of the first half and score twice in the second to beat the Spanish side.
Arnau Ortiz found the back of the net just five minutes into the game, creeping in at Tom Heaton’s far post to give Atletico Madrid the lead.
Cameroon forward Mbeumo’s chance to equalise came from the penalty spot after Shea Lacey was tripped, and he wasted no time in converting from the spot.
His second goal came after Jack Fletcher won the ball on the right, with Morten Hjulmand hitting the post late.
Speaking to MUTV after the game, United head coach Michael Carrick had positive words for the boys.
“I enjoyed it, I thought there was a lot of good in things that we are looking to improve on. Building on what we did for the last seven months, I think there is a lot of good signs for us.

“But I thought there was really a lot of positives to take out of the game, individually, collectively as a team, senior players looking strong and fit, and the younger players doing really well,” he stated.
“The spirit and the camaraderie is so important for the team; it’s great to see the boys getting on so naturally and enjoying each other’s company.
“Collectively we looked strong as a team, which is always the most important thing, and [we looked strong in] individual performances – seeing the young players come on to have an impact.”
“It is such a great group to work with… that is what really made today really pleasing.
“We had six-and-a-half weeks away from the players, so it’s a long time to compared to what I am used to, we are enjoying work and I am looking forward to the season.
“This is something to build on with this group, with different layers as we continue to push,” Carrick added.
