A new coinage, she-money, is fast gaining currency as more and more people experience its power in real life situations. Gone are the days when women were heard only in the labour room and the kitchen.

Evidence of she-money is being seen in every facet of a woman’s life. The table has turned so much in favour of the women unlike many years ago when wealth was mostly found among the men.

Nowadays, a lot of women have become so accomplished, empowered and have dwarfed men academically, financially and otherwise. They have become wiser than they used to be, have more self-respect and need no validation anymore. They fulfill their vocation to the best of her ability with the help of God, no matter what it is. The power of she-money is seen in the lives of successful women who have the ability to be efficient in making decisions. Women have become the cash cow of the society. This can be easily verified.

Today, women lead nations, run global technology companies, build and run thriving businesses and shape communities. The strength comes from deep resilience, sharp minds and a refusal to accept old limits. In leadership, women serve as top political leaders, corporate chief executives and heads of major organisations.

She-money associates with women’s strong recognition which is becoming stronger. It has been shown that these women are capable of achieving the same or more things than the male gender. Successful women have not only managed to institute various changes in the world, but they have also allowed changing world positively affect them. The result is that they now have the possibility of watching over themselves, become economically stable and successful in what they do.

On account of she-money, a successful woman does not rest on the oars of the knowledge she already has, but will always look for ways to continue training herself to become a recognized entrepreneur in her field. This leads to more cash for her.

Due to the power of she-money, the era of kept women has gone. Women now refuse to be mistresses to wealthy men because the scales have fallen from their eyes. Whether married or not, they are protected because they can match the men cash for cash.

She-money now makes it possible for women to make huge investments, attain financial freedom, achieve professional success, exhibit strong self-confidence and a distinct personal identity. The greatest is the ability to serve as a role model for her family and the community. She-money now enables women stand their ground. It does not matter if they are perceived as aggressive, difficult and bossy. But cash melts a strong heart.

I wish my late mother lived today to experience the power of she-money. For many years, she had no financial freedom as a teacher. As teachers, her husband would receive their salaries together and give her stipend to manage the home. She was boxed into a corner and could not enjoy the power of she-money, which women are enjoying today.

Interestingly, the power of she-money is the reason many women are no longer looking at the ticking clock, unfazed that the marriageable age is passing. Time and age are now on the side of the women unlike in the past when mothers woke their daughters very early in the morning to preach the message of marriage and childbirth. Those messages were concluded with “time waits for no lady.” The power of she- money has changed the narrative. If no responsible male is in sight, she freezes her eggs and gets a donor to fertilize it. Thanks to assisted conception technology. It is no longer the years of hurrying into a wrong relationship for protection and procreation. Now, money has power, hands and legs.

Instead of running around the market for food and toiletries, the power of she-money takes care of all that in the  present time. In a recent interview with a celebrity on the Island, she told me that on Saturdays, she sleeps till 10:00am. Gets to the gym and drives into a luxury restaurant to have any meal of her choice. Then gets back home to continue her rest by going to the cinema and watching movies. She-money takes care of all domestic chores.

The same power has become the reason women can comfortably choose their holiday destinations on any Island of their choice with business-class tickets. She-money gives a voice, confidence, comfort and resilience. It is the same reason women pay school fees in foreign currencies, threat themselves at every pay period with their perfumes, nail, eyelash, hair, and good food because they are not working to pay bills and die. Whatever money can do, it is a matter of cash. She-money is not found among the female elite alone. Even female daily retailers also have the same power at their own level. With the power of she-money, it is not every wife that a man can slap or ask to pack out because he knows better.

We need to understand that grounded feminism with she-money is not about competing with men on wrong issues. Rather, it is proving that women are no less able in their capabilities. I strongly believe in she-money. Yes, some women might not have the physical strength to fight, but in terms of knowledge, competence, brain work, nurturing and turning things around, women are super. Then add the power of she-money, which makes her complete. She deserves her flowers and must be respected.

Remarkably, some men have come to terms with this while some are struggling with the entitled mentality of ‘I am a man.’ I wish you well, sir.

One day, Ronke, a neighbour’s daughter confided in her aunt. She said: “Aunty, a colleague of mine is asking for my hand in marriage.” Her aunty asked her what their different job responsibilities in the bank were. “He is a marketer while I am in charge of our clearing house. When we made our intentions known to the organization, they advised that one of us must leave. We sat down to discuss. My fiancé said, “It is not a subject of discussion, you will resign because you are the woman, I will need to keep the job as the man.” Again her aunt asked: “Between you and your fiancé, who do you think the bank trusts more with financial obligations? Who do you think the bank will lay off first assuming there is a need to downsize? She kept quiet. The would-be hubby refused to look at the core values and gain. His intelligence quotient insisted he is a man. After Ronke’s eyes were opened, she turned down the offer. Eight months into the man’s new relationship, he lost his job as the bank downsized.

She-money is not about competition, but about reawakening of some slow minds. Sincerely, some things happen when a man has no money. When a man does not have money, he behaves in a way that one might think he is senseless. A poor man knows what is befitting, but settles for a less befitting one. Not that he has no common sense and has no taste, it is a matter of cash.

The truth is that when a man has no money, he has limited respect from his wife and children. The children would lean towards their mother who is richer.  The tendency of the children to misbehave is there because Daddy is not meeting up with his financial demands. Someone rightly said a man can feed his family for several years, but the moment she feeds her husband for a few months, the whole world will hear. The woman values her man’s money even with the she-money syndrome.

When a man does not have money, he can swallow many bitter pills, come down in decision and also swallow his pride. You do not have a choice and preferred taste of a meal as a cashless man, you only get what is available.

Dear men and women, the new she-money is not a sin, but a welcome development. Wise men know how to handle and manage women with she-money power for themselves. Know that almost everything can be bought now with money, including love. Be wise. Know it and know peace.
