The flood that occurred last Tuesday along Udok in Eket local government , Akwa Ibom state, has submerged a poultry farm and drowned over 500 birds.
The farmer Mrs Grift Udia while lamenting such loss said over 500 birds were drowned in the heavy downpour that threatened the farm.
Udia said the flood also affected other areas including Udok Street, Udofa ,Essien Imoh Streets, Idua Road, Almighty Road causing damages to households property.
Narrating her experience, Udia said she woke up early morning to inspect her poultry farm and administer vaccines to the birds before given them feeds and discovered that the entire farm was submerged.
“When I woke up and decided to go and check my birds at around six a.m on that fateful day
“I entered the house and slept off, before going to give the birds vaccine, the flood has destroyed the fence of the poultry farm and submerged the farm killing the whole birds.

She appealed to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to come to her aid to cushion the impact of the disaster.
Udia; a mother of four children called on the State and the Federal Government to come to her aid as she borrowed money from ‘osusu’ contributions to buy the birds.
“I am begging the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, to please help me because the poultry farm is our lifeline. We use it to feed the entire household.
“I also use profit from the poultry farm to pay my children’s school fees because my husband is not working.
“I collected the money from osusu (contribution) and for now I don’t have hope to pay back to the owners.”
