…Honours wife with brand-new SUV as dignitaries pay tributes
Sunday, August 16, will remain memorable for the people of Ijegun/Ijedodo, Lagos, as Eze Okpoko 1 and Eze Ndigbo in Ijegun/Ijedodo, Eze Amb. Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi, and his wife, Pastor Tessy Nwokedi, marked their 25th wedding anniversary in grand style.
The colourful ceremony attracted dignitaries from various walks of life, including senior police officers and their spouses, traditional rulers, captains of industry, business associates, and the celebrant’s Chinese business partners.
In his remarks, Eze Nwokedi expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life and that of his wife to witness 25 years of marital bliss.
He noted that the journey had not been without challenges, particularly economic hardships, but said he overcame them through divine grace and was now in a position to give back to society and support the less privileged.
Recounting his humble beginnings and rise to prominence, the Eze said attaining 25 years in marriage alongside a successful business career had been both challenging and rewarding.
“I once slept in my shop at Ladipo Spare Parts Market, Mushin, and rose to become the president of the market.
“In time, I also acquired properties. From being a tenant in a one-room apartment, I now own 12 buildings in Abuja, Lagos, and other parts of the country.
“Today, I am a landlord, receiving rents from my properties across the country,” he said.
On his marriage, Eze Nwokedi again thanked God for sustaining their union, noting that he was not wealthy when they got married.

“When I married my wife, I wasn’t wealthy, but my wife and my mother-in-law accepted me for who I was.
“Together, we worked and toiled, and by the grace of God, here we are, celebrating 25 years of love,” he said.
In appreciation of his wife’s support and companionship over the years, Eze Nwokedi presented her with a brand-new SUV.
“I present this brand-new SUV to my wife in appreciation of her support. I pray for many more blissful years together,” he said.
A senior police officer at the event, AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, described Eze Nwokedi as a good man and a friend of the police.
“Eze Nwokedi is a kind man who always assists his people. He also has a cordial relationship with the police.
“I am here to felicitate with him and his wife. I pray that God will continue to bless their matrimonial union,” she said.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Okeyson Motors, High Chief Charles Okechukwu, described Eze Nwokedi as a philanthropist who has used his wealth to support the needy.
He congratulated the couple on their silver jubilee, adding that he attended the celebration with his wife to rejoice with them on the milestone.
The highlight of the event was the cutting of the anniversary cake and the presentation of the SUV to Ugoeze Pastor Tessy Nwokedi.
The Eze also gifted guests bags of rice, wristwatches, and household utensils as part of the celebration.
The high-profile ceremony was attended by two Assistant Inspectors-General of Police: AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom of the FCID Annex, Lagos, Alagbon, Ikoyi, and AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat of the Maritime Police Command, Lagos.
Among those present was High Chief Sunday Udeh, Chairman of the Igbo Speaking Community of Lagos State.
In a special recognition of his leadership and commitment to community development, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom described Nwokedi as a God-sent blessing to humanity.
“He has done a lot for his community and beyond Nigeria. I am here to celebrate with him on his 25th wedding anniversary. I wish him many more years of celebration,” he said.
AIG Akpanudom was accompanied by the FCID Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aminat Mayegun.
