Sen. Sandy Onor, Cross River state governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Sen. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe have expressed confident of victory after vasting their votes at their respextive polling units.

The duo also decried the pockets of violence reported in some parts of the state in the ongoing governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Speaking with journalists shortly after voting at Akpor Town Hall polling unit 06, Nsofan, Etung local government area, Cross River, Sen. Onor said so far so good and confident of victory at the end of the day.

The Senator, representing central senatorial district, expressed reservations at pockets of violence being perpetrated by the party in parts of the state and the lists of ad hoc staff allegedly being populated by rival party supporters asking that people would resist any attempt to rig or cause violence.

“Our primarily concern for now is to ensure that those who are not popular and afraid of polls don’t rig or cause violence to disrupt the processes.

“I urge Crossriverians to remain calm, cast their vote and protect the votes until the final collation is done and results announced,” he stated.

On the spate of violence in the south, the PDP governorship candidate has expressed regret over the burning of some the party’s vehicles at Odukpani yesterday.

He said that the burnt vehicles were conveying some of their supporters down for Saturday’s poll when they were ambushed at Odukpani.

Also speaking after voting at Saint Michael Primary School, Polling Unit 005, Nkum Irede Ward , Ogoja local gvernment area, Sen. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Sentor-elect, Cross River North, PDP is sure of
total victory in the governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Jarigne said: “I am confident that Senator Sandy Onor will be governor and all PDP House of Assembly candidates will win. The will of the people is massive and should be allowed to prevail in the elections.

“I commend INEC for early distribution of materials which made it possible for elections to start at 8.30am. As you can see I have voted, every where around this Polling Units is peaceful ,everyone is orderly and the BIVAS is working well”

On Security, he said: “So far I am happy with the security agency even as we received reports of some misconducts by some Police officers in Mbube. We urged them to be professional in their constitutional duties so the will of the people would prevail.”
