As Nigerians prepare for Saturdays general election, former governor of Nasarawa state, senator representing Nasarawa south senatorial district, Tanko Al’makura preaches peace, cautions politicians and electorates in the state to shun violence during and after the election.
Al’makura gave the caution on Thursday in an interview with Daily Sun saying it is important to commend candidates for showing high level of maturity during campaigns and had avoided crisis that could tear the state apart.
“Under campaigns activities I want commend all the politicians, especially and Nigeria at large, for maturity showed during campaigns, campaign that one can say is devoid of dirt’s except for one or two areas.
“I congratulate us all the candidate, it shows that democracy has come to stay and we are living by the rules, i also commend the candidates for supporting INEC and securities operators for coming to sign a memorandum of understanding for peace.”
“One can say without contradiction that Nigeria politicians have gotten to the point they believe in democracy, and wanting it to Flourish. he added.
