Apoliceman has been killed in an ambush on a police patrol team by terrorists believed to be Boko Haran in a restive town in Borno.

Multiple security sources told Saturday Sun that some mobile policemen drafted from various units were on foot patrol at the Police Mobile Force Training College (PMFTC) Camp Limankara, a small town in Gwoza Local Government area, South-East of Maiduguri, Borno’s capital, early Thursday, when they were ambushed by terrorists.

According to one of the sources, the terrorists opened fire on the patrol team and the bullet hit one of the policemen.

However, the victim was rushed to the hospital in Maiduguri where he reportedly passed away.

The Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), Nahum Daso said he was yet to get the details of the incident at the time of filing the report.

The incident was one in a series of terrorist attacks recorded in the area once overrun by Boko Haram.

In August 2014, Boko Haram attacked and seized the Police Mobile Force Training College camp at Limankara, near Gwoza, a hilly town along the country’s border with Cameroon.
