The police in Ebonyi State have vowed to investigate and arrest killers of the traditional ruler of Umuihe autonomous community in Akaeze, Ivo Local Government Area of the state, Umazi Ubani.

Ubani was killed last Friday night in the area by unidentified assailants.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Joshua Ukandu, yesterday, said officers and men of the command had been mobilised to ensure the assailants are apprehended.

“Right now, we are still trailing the assailants and they must be brought to book,” Ukandu said.

A resident of the community, Mr Chima Okoro, described the incident as “unfortunate.” Okoro said the incident had caused tension in the area, adding that markets and shops were yet to reopen for business.
