The Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime squad of the Delta State Police Command, has rescued a 27-year-old woman who was kidnapped in Ibusa community, Oshimili North local government area of the state.
The victim who was kidnapped on March 12 was taken to a building site beside Obosi River along Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku Road.
Following intelligence gathered on the reported kidnap of the lady (name withheld), the commissioner of Police, Delta state Command, CP Aina Adesola, had directed the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime squad to ensure that the victim is rescued unhurt and also ensure the possible arrest of the suspects.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe who confirmed this in a statement on Monday, said that following the directive, on March 19, the Commander command Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime squad led operatives in the trail of the kidnappers.
He said that upon approaching their hideout, the kidnappers opened fire on the team, and the operatives responded with superior firepower, causing the kidnappers to succumb and subsequently flee the scene, abandoning their captives.

Subsequently, “the victim were rescued and taken to General Hospital for treatment. Efforts to arrest the suspects are ongoing”.
Meanwhile, operatives of Owa-Oyibu Police Division has arrested one Sunday Blessing in possession of a locally made Beretta pistol after allegedly robbing a POS operator.
According to Edafe, “on March 18, the DPO Owa-Oyibu division received a distress call from Uwalade Street, off Pipeline Boji Boji Owa, that at about 0745hrs, one Sunday Blessing and two others came to a POS stand at Diffrey Road by Ebu Owa Market, robbed a POS operator of the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (#600,000) at gunpoint.
“Acting swiftly, the DPO detailed operatives from the Division who acted swiftly and arrested the suspect, identified as Sunday Blessing and a locally made Beretta pistol was recovered. The suspect is in custody, and investigation is ongoing”.
