The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night operation in Oyo State.
The rescue operation was carried out at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, three days after the victims were abducted by armed gunmen in Ibadan.
The development was confirmed to Sunday Sun by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, and the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
According to security sources, the victims were rescued alive after police operatives tracked the kidnappers and mounted sustained tactical pressure on the criminal gang.
A source within the Force disclosed that the operation led to a fierce gun battle between the kidnappers and police operatives, resulting in the death of two suspected members of the gang.
The source further revealed that two firearms were recovered from the suspects during the encounter.
