The Delta State Police Command has rescued a 60-year-old kidnap victim, arrested 10 suspects and recovered a locally made firearm as well as quantities of suspected illicit drugs in separate operations across the state.
The operations, conducted in Agbor, Abbi and Oghara on September 4, 2026, were part of the command’s sustained efforts to tackle kidnapping, cult-related activities, drug abuse and other criminal activities across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, said the successes were recorded through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with local security personnel.
In Agbor, operatives of the Agbor Division, acting on intelligence following a report of the abduction of a 60-year-old man, mobilised to Alisime Village at about 6:00 p.m. on September 4, alongside forest guards and local security personnel.
The team reportedly engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, forcing them to flee into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries.
The victim was rescued unharmed, while a mobile phone and an ATM card were recovered from the scene.
Edafe said the area had been cordoned off as the command intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.
He said: “The suspects fled into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries, while the victim was successfully rescued unharmed. A manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.”
In a separate operation at Abbi, operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Ozoro, raided a brothel suspected to be a hideout for a wanted suspect allegedly linked to an arson incident in Owhelogbo Community in August.
The raid, carried out at about 9:30 p.m., resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects comprising seven females and three males.
Police said quantities of Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and substances suspected to be Indian hemp were also recovered during the operation.

Edafe said the suspects were being profiled to establish their identities and possible links to criminal activities.
He added that those found culpable would be charged to court and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“Profiling of the suspects is ongoing, and those found culpable will be prosecuted,” the police spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Oghara Division, in collaboration with members of a civilian anti-cult group, recovered a locally made cut-to-size firearm after responding to a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road, Oghara.
The suspects reportedly fled on sighting the patrol team.
One of them, identified by the alias, “Highest,” allegedly dropped the firearm while escaping.
The police recovered the weapon and commenced efforts to identify and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
According to Edafe, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, commended the officers and other security personnel who participated in the operations.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed that efforts be intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects and ensure that those responsible for these crimes face the law,” Edafe said.
He added that the command would continue to strengthen intelligence gathering, raid identified criminal hideouts and sustain patrols across Delta State.
The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing and detecting criminal activities.
The police assured residents that efforts would be sustained to improve security and ensure that criminal elements operating across the state are brought to justice.
