The Delta State Police Command has recovered seven Ak-47 riffles,one Ak-49 rifle, one G3 rifle, six pump action guns and nine locally made guns in seven months .
Other items recovered are:16 Beretta pistols, 35 cartridges, 53 ammunition, seven cutlasses and N 5.5 million from criminals in the state.
The command also arrested 52 suspects and rescued three kidnap victims.
According to Delta State Police Commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda who was represented at a press conference in Ugheli, said upon resumption of duty as the 22nd CP ,on February 1 2024 , he met the challenge of kidnapping and armed robbery in Ughelli, Warri, Sapele and environs.
“ The CP in his wisdom deployed a special team to Ughelli headed by ASP Julius Robinson with a clear mandate to partner with the DPOs in these areas and ensure that people would start sleeping with their eyes closed. It’s an obvious fact that this master stroke by the CP has been paying off as you can see today.
