The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched an investigation into the alleged assault, attempted kidnapping, malicious damage and threats to life involving a Lagos-based woman, Mrs. Obiwenite Amara Jane, and her children.
The investigation followed a petition submitted by the victim to the Area E Command, Festac Town, Lagos on February 12.
Mrs. Obiwenite, who resides at 41 Road, A Close, Block 3, Flat 13, Festac Town, Lagos, alleged that she and her children were attacked in the early hours of February 9, 2026, by two unidentified armed men who stormed her residence.
According to a police report cited by Daily Sun, the suspects, whose faces were masked, reportedly banged violently on her door and when the victim stepped out to ascertain the cause of the disturbance, she was confronted by the armed men who allegedly forced her to the ground and demanded to know the whereabouts of her husband.
Her two children were said to be present during the attack. In what police described as a disturbing development, one of the assailants allegedly seized her second daughter and threatened that the child would be circumcised, claiming it was her husband’s turn to assume a traditional role associated with their village deity stool.
During the ensuing struggle, the girl reportedly sustained injuries, while household items and other properties in the apartment were damaged.

The attackers were said to have fled the scene on a waiting motorcycle, popularly known as okada, after neighbours were alerted by the commotion.
The suspects allegedly threatened to return, forcing the victim to relocate temporarily to a relative’s home for safety.
The police report stated that preliminary investigations indicate that the assailants are suspected members of a cult group who wore masks to conceal their identities, making identification difficult.
The police report further stated that efforts to apprehend the suspects have so far proved unsuccessful.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
