…Police order hunters, vigilance groups to steer clear of security duties in Kano

From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

As the Kano emirate crisis continued unabated, police in the state have directed all non-state security actors to desist from engaging in the security of the state.

The police specifically directed members of various vigilance groups and local hunters, to steer clear of security duties to any part of the state.

The State Police Command made this known in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, yesterday.

Daily Sun gathered that the statement may not be unconnected with the number of hunters purportedly offering security around the city area.

The police reiterated its commitment to enforce the ban placed on public protests, processions, and related unlawful gatherings by the Kano State Government.

They warned of their resolve to deal with violators of the ban, adding that their sponsors would be promptly identified and sanctioned according to the law.

The police assured that adequate security deployment of personnel have been made, while imploring residents to support the security by providing them with actionable information and intelligence to preserve the peace, detect, arrest, investigate and prosecute the deviants.
