Police neutralise Lakurawa suspect in Kebbi

Ogun Assembly decries 52 police checkpoints on Idiroko-Owode road

The Kebbi State Police Command has neutralised one suspected Lakurawa insurgent member  in Malan-Yaro village, Dandi Local Government of the state and recovered two motorcycles.

Kebbi State   Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Nafiu Abubakar,  in a statement, said,”On November 25, 2025, at about 5:26 am , armed men suspected to be Lakurawa bandits stormed Malan Yaro village, Dandi LG. Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Kamba, swiftly mobilized a combined team of policemen and vigilantes to the scene, pursued and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel which lasted for hours.

  “During the operation, one bandit was neutralised, while others escaped into the forest with fatal gunshot wounds. Similarly, two motorcycles belonging to the bandits were recovered,while the corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital, Kamba, for autopsy.

  “A combined team of additional policemen, military and local vigilantes have been deployed in the affected area to curbing the menace of suspected Lakurawa activities and other violent crimes, as well as to preventing a reprisal attack”.

   Abubakar said that the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command(CP) Bello Sani had commended the DPO kamba and other security agencies for displaying gallantry performance and professionalism in checkmating the criminal activities in the area and urged them to sustain the ongoing synergy amongst them.

He added that the  case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for thorough investigation with a view to unraveling their modus of operandi and forestall future occurrence.
