Two suspected cultists, Nnamdi Sunday and Adegbuyi Seyi, have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS), Akure, of the Ondo State Police State Command.
The suspects also led operatives to a hideout where a locally-made English pistol was recovered.
In a Wednesday statement, command spokesman, DSP Abayomi Jimoh said operatives acting on credible and actionable intelligence provided by the Ondo End Miscreant Group, successfully apprehended the suspects on April 11, 2026, in Ondo Town.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects are affiliated with the notorious Eiye and Aiye confraternities, both of which have been linked to recurring incidents of violent rivalry in parts of the state.

“The suspects were specifically identified as participants in a cult-related clash that occurred on April 9, 2026, within the premises of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, where members of rival groups reportedly engaged in a confrontation that threatened public peace and safety,” Jimoh said.
The police spokesman disclosed that upon their arrest, the suspects cooperated with investigators and led operatives to a suspected Aiye cult hideout located at Oka Garage area of Ondo Town.
He said a thorough search of the location resulted in the recovery of one locally made English pistol, believed to have been used in furtherance of criminal activities.
“The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network, apprehend other fleeing members, and recover additional arms and ammunition that may be in circulation,” the statement further reads.
