Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Orlu Chukwuemeka, for one-chance-style kidnapping and armed robbery that left a female victim injured along Chime Avenue in the city.
The suspect was arrested in the early hours of December 6, 2025, by personnel of the New Haven Division and the Distress Response Squad (DRS), following a distress call that prompted a swift police response.
According to the Enugu State Police Command, Orlu and an accomplice, who is still on the run, had pretended to be commercial operators of an unregistered white mini bus around the Fourth Dimension area.
They reportedly abducted their passenger, stabbed her, and later pushed her out of the moving vehicle after robbing her of her phone and ATM card.
Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement, yesterday, said:“The operatives immediately trailed and intercepted the suspects within Independence Layout, leading to the arrest of Orlu, while the other suspect fled.”

“ The victim, who was rushed to the hospital, regained stability and was able to positively identify the arrested suspect as part of the criminal gang.”
He confirmed that the suspect has since been arraigned and remanded in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplice.
Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, commended residents tor theor timely intervention in alerting authorities, noting that such cooperation is critical to crime-fighting efforts.
“We remain unwavering in our resolve to combat violent crimes across Enugu State this festive season and beyond. We urge residents to continue providing credible and timely security information,” the CP stated.
The Command assured the public that it would not relent until all individuals involved in the incident are brought to justice.
