The Intelligence Unit, Rapid Response Squad and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Edo State Police Command have arrested the recently dethroned Priest (Ohen) of Okhoromi, Ovbokhan Igbinovia Kelvin, 43, and four others for allegedly being in possession of prohibited weapons and a suspected human skull.
Edo state Public Relations Officer (PPRO ), SP Moses Yamu, named those arrested in company with Kelvin to include :Osarodion Omoregie,41, Charles Otasowei,55, Edwin Igbinovia,45,and Osagie Igbinovia,44, while two AK 47 rifles with breach numbers TH4782 and 6683 were recovered from them.
Other items recovered are:two single barrel locally made shotguns, three empty AK47 magazines, one OFM magazine, 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a suspected human skull.
“The Edo State Command in a sting operation carried out by operatives of the Command Intelligence and Rapid Response Squad alongside the Anti-Kidnapping Squad today on Saturday ,arrested the recently dethroned Ohen of Okhoromi, Ovbokhan Igbinovia Kelvin, 43, Osarodion Omoregie, 41, Charles Otasowei 55, Edwin Igbinovia, 45,and Osagie Igbinovia 44.

“The following exhibits; two AK 47 rifles with breach numbers TH4782 and 6683 respectively, two single barrel locally made shotguns, three empty AK47 magazines, one OFM magazine, 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a suspected human skull, were recovered from the premises of Ovbokhan Igbinovia Kelvin, the dethroned Ohen of Okhoromi when search was conducted.”
Yamu added that investigation was ongoing to recover other arms and ammunition in the Priest’s possession and arrest his fleeing gang members.
Igbinovia was stripped of his title by Oba of Benin after reviewing his abominable traditional practices.
They allegations include: land grabbing, extortion, and unauthorized private properties demolition in clear violation of Benin customs and tradition, levelled against him by some individuals.
