Police nab 4 suspected illicit drug dealers in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four persons for illicit drug dealing in Uyo metropolis.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Timfon John, and made available to journalists in Uyo disclosed that the illegal drug dealers were arrested at their hideout in Uyo city.

John listed the suspected drug dealers as Gideon Patrick Edet, Joseph Effiong, Mfon Cletus Ikpe, and Gideon Edet Etim.

The statement reads in parts:
“Based on credible information, operatives of the Command conducted a series of raids on several suspected illicit drug black spots within the Uyo metropolis at approximately 10:00 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025.

“The coordinated operation led to the arrest of four male suspects, namely: Gideon Patrick Edet ‘m’, Paul Joseph Effiong ‘m’, Mfon Cletus Ikpe ‘m’, Gideon Edet Etim ‘m’.”
John stated that a large quantity of substances were recovered from the suspects during the raid on their hideout in Uyo metropolis.

“A large quantity of suspected illicit drugs and substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered.”

“Investigations are ongoing,” she said.
