Police Foil Armed Bandits’ Attack in Gombe Community

The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the successful foiling of an attempted armed bandits’ attack on Guda Lamido Village in Kashere District in Akko Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Command, in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at about 4:00 a.m, following intelligence reports indicating that a group of armed bandits had mobilised to invade the community.

He explained that upon receiving the distress report, a joint security team comprising officers of the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante operatives, and community hunters was immediately deployed to the area. The team engaged the assailants in a coordinated response, forcing the criminals to retreat into the surrounding forest.

The Police confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the operation, with no loss of life or injuries sustained. Normal activities have since resumed in the community, which remains calm and under control.

To forestall any further security threats, the Command disclosed that patrols and surveillance operations have been intensified across Guda Lamido Village and neighbouring areas.

DSP Buhari added that the Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended the professionalism and gallantry displayed by the officers and collaborating security groups during the operation, charging them to sustain the momentum in the fight against crime.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
