The  Nigeria Police Force and the Department  of State Service (DSS) yesterday  sealed the Ondo State secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akure, the state capital.

The presence of the security operatives was noticed at the party secretariat located at Ijapo area of Akure as early as 7.00am.

The armed security operatives stationed their vehicles outside the secretariat, while the operatives mounted surveillance around the building.

It was gathered that the action of the security agents was to prevent a planned protest by the PDP to demand for the whereabout of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The party had on Sunday threatened to embark on peaceful protest to call the attention of the world to the absence of Akeredolu in the state since he returned from medical vacation in Germany.

Akeredolu had since his return to the state settled in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital and refused to go to office or stay in any part of Ondo State.

Reacting to the development, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kennedy Peretei, confirmed that the presence of the security operatives was to prevent a planned peaceful protest by youths of the party.

Peretei said the protest was for the youths to demand the  whereabout of Governor Akeredolu after being absent from the state since April, 2023.

He said the staff of the party were not allowed into the secretariat, so also members of the party who resume there daily.
