Police dismantle illegal checkpoints on East-West Road

•Warn officers against extortion, misconduct

Authorities of the Zonal and State Police Commands of the Nigeria Police over the weekend, conducted a routine assessment of the roadblocks mounted along the East-West Road by their personnel.

The joint operation, which was led by  Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16 Headquarters, Yenagoa, Johnson Oluwole Adenola, and  Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State  police Command, Iyamah Daniel Edebor, led to the dismantling of illegal roadblocks.

During the exercise, after the dismantling of the  illegal roadblocks, AIG Adenola warned officers against extortion and all forms of misconduct against members of the public, especially along the expressway. 

They charged officers to remain professional and be of good conduct while carrying out their lawful duties.

CP Edebor stated that the exercise would be a routine to check the conduct of officers on the highways across the state.
