The Ogun State Police Command has debunked a viral video circulating on social media alleging the presence of armed bandits in a forest in the state, describing it as false and misleading.
The Command said preliminary investigations revealed that the footage, which shows individuals cooking in a bush, was recorded in Kenya during a General Service Unit operation involving cattle rustlers and was first uploaded online in 2022.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, condemned the circulation of the video, noting that it was deliberately recycled to create panic and misinform the public.
He stated that there is no intelligence or operational report indicating the presence of bandits in any part of Ogun State.

He urged residents to disregard the video and refrain from sharing unverified information capable of inciting fear or disrupting public peace.
The CP advised the public to rely on official communication channels for credible security updates and to report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.
He warned that the spread of false and inciting content would not be tolerated.
