Delta State Police Command has confirmed the murder of Vice Chairman of the  All Progressives Congress (APC), Ethiope East Local Government of the state, Ese Idisi.

He was reportedly killed at the weekend by unknown gunmen.

Details of the incident were sketchy at the time of filing the report, but the command Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe said that the dastardly act was committed  at Okpara Waterside community in the council area.

“We got a report that he was murdered and we are presently investigating,” Edafe said.

Meanwhile, the state Chapter of the APC, has expressed shock and devastation over the “brutal and condemnable killing of Ese Idisi.”

The chapter of the party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, called on the police and other security agencies to carry out a thorough, uncompromising  and professional investigation into the murder.

According to the statement,”the perpetrators, sponsors, and anyone connected to this heinous crime must be identified, apprehended and brought to justice without delay. Nothing short of a full-scale investigation will suffice in the prevailing circumstances.”

The party commiserated with the family of the deceased, saying that his tragic passing has left a painful void not only in his home and community, but also within the APC family in Ethiope East Ward 4.

Onojeghuo said that Idisi was a loyal, committed and a dependable party man,who contributed immensely to the growth of the Party in Ethiope East, saying, “his death is not just a loss; it is a heavy blow that has plunged the Party into mourning.”

The party, however, rejected suggestions in certain quarters that the murder of  Idisi has political colouration or internal party undertones.
